my girlies two...

just spent a lovely few hours with my first and littlest at appointments and other unspecified and extremely official-sounding they'll-be-very-late-to-school sort of events.

like, a sushi lunch.

my mom kept me home from school all the time. she loved spending time with me. still does, in fact, which makes me feel pretty lucky.

i hope i'm stuffing that sweet feeling into my girlies' hearts. sometimes, yelling about chores gets in the way.

hope you all catch a dip or two this weekend. xoxo. and oops! originally posted a goldfish by a soft surrender, but was just ordered to remove it. no worries. this one, titled a different view from wbg232's flickr, is even cooler.

What a fun day!

My poor little guys has no chance. Since I am a schoolteacher by training and trade, he won't be getting many hall passes for the day! :)

(get it? hall passes? ah, teacher humor.)

Um hello, i don't know how to contact you, but did you read the description on that photo?! i don't want my images posted on blogs, or Tumblr (which is a blog) i would appreciate it if you removed my COPYRIGHTED image, thanks!

awesome, a soft surrender.

your image is removed.

a "soft surrender" could use a little softening? surrendering? or a name change?
yikes?

way to take oneself and hobby so seriously....maybe soft surrender should go shoot some of the images down at the gulf: birds and animals suffering and dying in oil.....that's something to get upset about.

don't let her bad experience ruin yours. this one is sweet and the fish isn't experiencing what it feels like to be on the subway on a hot summer day!

oy - she's 16!

Sheesh...OY! That's what I have to say about you having to remove a photo. Don't they know exposure on your blog is the height of fabu elegance? Apparently not. I adore your whole attitude re: the girlies and sushi lunch, can I come too? With my girlies! It sounds like heaven to me...& I feel the same way about my girlies, take em out, spend time with them, enjoy each other ( I love their company) and I think it is so awesome that you still feel that from your mom( I hope my girlies...well, you know) I adore you!

Okay, your girlies (all three!) are going to have such good memories of you when they're grown. I just know it. My mom took me out of school once for an "appointment" -- taking little six-year-old me to ride the two-story carousel at Central Park Mall. :)

And don't mind the B at a soft surrender. I read the comments on her Flickr page and she said she flushed the goldfish down the toilet after getting the shot. Can you believe it? They didn't have a chance. :(

happy weekend!

Karey M your writing is stunning and I think your girls will have such wonderful memories especially if you are writing all of this down for them in your own words. I'm a stressed out mother of 4 under 4 but my oldest starts kinder in the fall and my twins will start preschool and I'm not sure that I will be able to stand for too long with just one baby in my arms...so I know there will be a ditch day or two.

sushi lunches are VERY official-must-attend-appointments!

Perphaps soft surrender's mother should have taught her the importance of sharing and being kind....

Anonymous is kind of a butt, you know? How hard is it to say please and thank you? "Soft Surrender" would get much more visibility if she weren't so worried about credit. I mean, who doesn't give credit?

Well, maybe you can ignore all that? Simply Mel is much nicer about it than I. Listen to her instead.

someone (soft surrender) didn't get enough love a as a child and is now an adult-sized brat, acting like a 3 year old.

your girlies, on the other hand, will be filled to overflowing with love and happy memories.

Your comments are quite entertaining to read :) If you can't be nice about someone's preference then don't say anything at all :) And for someone who said "i don't get enough love" you don't know me. And that's an ignorant remark. So you're saying because i wanted my image removed from a site i didn't get enough love, that's rubbish.

kind of reminds me of this...

although this could be good too....

all for sushi lunches - so many lessons to learn over a good sushi lunch. like how many plates have i had?? or...so, are the blue plates $10 ea or is it the green??

Time away from school just to be with mom was always all kinds of awesome.

And A soft surrender is all kinds of arsey.

Hope you and your girlies have a wonderful weekend!

My mom once owned a little gift shop and a few times during the year she would let one of us (she had 5 girlies) take the day off and come to work with her. I remember little about my elementary school days, but those days I spent with her are still crystal clear.

Of course before I read the rude cease and desist order I skipped over to see the other photo. ugh. She didn't deserve the increase in her traffic. Couldn't agree more-- the simplicity of this one is much cooler.

i just found out that "soft surrender" is a teenager ... my nasty remarks were out of line (i don't fight with children).

sorry 'bout that.

this was all a huge misunderstanding. i got shockingly testy about it, didn't i?

the sweet photog and i have worked it out. she didn't understand that i was only trying to promote an artist, and i didn't understand that she was sick and tired of people reblogging her work without giving her credit.

we agreed that we were both being petty. and our final mails to each other included a "have a nice day and enjoy the weather" from her...and an xoxo from me.

all is well. and her flickr stream really is a brilliant little rainbow. you should check it out. just don't reblog her.

thanks for understanding. xoxo.

krista said...

there is something quite metaphoric about goldfish and sushi, yes?

you are a colorful gem, miss karey. and i'm glad the misunderstanding was a bit, well, less misunderstood.
exes and ohs and weather enjoyment is so much better, is it not?

I love you so much it gives me the chills sometimes! My mom did the SAME thing! We also would go sleigh riding at midnight when the snowflakes were coming down and my mom knew there'd be no school the next day. She'd drag me on my sled to the diner for hot chocolate and grilled cheeses. I love moms like you!!

Glad you were able to kiss and make up. :) Thanks for the update!

Karey, I'm 100% sure you are. And you wouldn't be a mom if you didn't have to yell about chores sometimes. Okay, all the time.
