laughing...

when's the last time you laughed? like, laughed laughed? with tears and a hand over your mouth and a lean into the person next to you...

i do enjoy laughing.

i laugh a lot. usually when it's an inappropriate time. i will tell you this secret about me if you swear to never repeat it to anyone, ok? ok, then. once, i went to a very crowded wake. when it was my turn to kneel in front of the casket, i completely lost my mind and started laughing. shoulders shaking, nose plugged, tears streaming. i was a mess. and then. when i went to express my condolences to the guy's family? i started all over again. it was awful. i remember getting my trying-not-to-laugh high-pitched voice...ugh...this soprano sorry sailing through the room.

shame.

this morning, i've already laughed hard once. when esmé named her giraffe baracko. after the president. baracko bama.

i'm not surprised. she butchers all the world leaders and a variety of terrorists. with one exception: this guy. oh, she knows his name. she just won't ever say it. he scares the crust out of us.

where was i? oh, yes. laughing. it's good for your soul, yes? but it's kind of like hugs, isn't it? do you ever get a hug and all of a sudden realize that it's been awhile since someone's hugged you? i mean, i hug the girlies three and pat all day all night. but sometimes i think they forget to hug me first. that's a huge difference in hugs, don't you think? a hug you give is lovely. a hug you get is even better.

anyway. when's the last time you laughed? i hope you get to laugh today. i hope you get a hug today, too. off to make more videos for this project. grae sings in the most wonderful dude-in-an-opera voice. you would peep your pants if you heard it. i'll try to persuade her to share. xoxo. photos from here and here.

I cracked up laughing during labor and delivery - everyone looked at me like I was nuts. But it was great!

I laughed so hard yesterday when my 9 month old son had a tantrum because he couldn't have more yogurt. It was not good acting on his part - he needs lessons.

I giggled hysterically at my grandma's funeral, so I know how you felt! It was the priest's voice that sent me over the edge -- he was about 4'7" with this deep cartoony voice that soudned so silly that it killed me (ahem, so to speak).

Luckily, everyone thought I was overcome with tears and emotion.

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time... I wish I would but as much as Emma makes me crack up she still needs to be older to make me want-to-pee-my-pants kind of laugh. My sisters do make me laugh until I have kneel on the floor or hold my stomach and cackle like a mad woman.

I laughed the kind of crying, high pitched laughing the other day when a girl I was watching imitated another girl at the park scraping her face on the gravel while she was on the swings...mean, I know, but the imitation was sooooo funny.

My husband makes me laugh like that almost daily.

That's why I married him, or at least why I fell in love with him.

Oddly enough, the last time I laughed...was the last time I gave someone a hug. I gave my hubs a big squeeze after dinner, and he burped and it was the funniest thing that had happened all day. The kids came running - they thought I was crying. Heh.

Oh, man. I know that kind of laughter and love it SO much. Life sustaining right? The wiping tears from your eyes kind?! sigh...it has been awhile but, I know it will happen soon. And I agree on the hugs....I hug my girls and Joel all day but, getting one in return is different. I imagine...when I get to alt, that I will give you the biggest hug ever and I already KNOW we will laugh til we cry. :)

Oh that is the absolute best. My bestie and I get the giggles pretty much every time we get together. Tears running down our cheeks, can't breathe...so great!!
Everyone looks at us in wonder when we get that way. We have a secret language, communicated primarily with laughter.

LOVE IT!!
Wishing you deep, belly laughs every day! And loads of hugs, too!

I def need more of this laughter in my life right now. In fact the other day I was thinking just that. I need to laugh more. Of course when it is organic, unplanned and out of the blue, well, that is the best kind.
I loved that you shared that story. Sometimes death makes me laugh too, although it is not funny at all. Usually when someone tells me someone has died. It's like I just don't know what to do with myself.
Anyhow, I hope you have the best kind of week!

Oh wow, I never thought about the difference of being hugged versus hugging, but you're right. Or maybe I did have some concept of the importance because, just recently, a picture of Prince William with his hand on his bride's back (during an eye-to-eye conversation) made me gasp out loud. And laughing? I'm jealous of people who regularly do so with their head thrown back.
