are they real...

i've gotten quite a few mails about my shiny fingers over on design mom.

none of it is too terribly precious in terms of money. but if you're talking about shimmer quality? it's all pretty dear. and if you're whispering about how much it all means to me? i'd have to whisper back that it's priceless.

i wear my wedding and engagement stuff on my pinkie because i really don't believe in a ring finger. passive aggressive? party of one? your table's ready. that star sapphire was actually my mother-in-law's engagement ring. even though she has two daughters of her own, she. gave. it. to. me. and she's still alive.

i know.

i always tell uncle sugar that only good people can see the star, and then i hold it at a dark angle. this cracks me up every time.

one more thing. do you save your shimmer for special occasions? or is every day a special occasion? i hope you choose option b. have a sparkly weekend. catch you later, friends. xoxo.

Hi Karey...I like your explanation! I am lucky I have a husband who has over time, bought me some lovely jewellery and I do wear alot of it day to day. Sometimes people just want to have a closer look. Whether they were bling or not, you are right; they are priceless.

I wear my engagement & wedding rings every day, that is why they have paint splashes, little scratches and possibly flour or pastry or other such baking remnants stuck to them. They never leave my finger as I would feel a little incomplete without them at this stage. They did cost a bit but are worth much more to me than that and I am not too precious about them as that would remove the enjoyment of wearing them. My other trinkets and bling are worn in rotation depending on my mood on any given day. My mams motto was 'wear them and enjoy them' and she was so right.

i LOVE that sapphire. And I did wear my shineys daily, but I kept scratching my babies with the rock -- it's set high or something? So while every day is a special occasion, I only pull out the solitaire for an evening out.

I didn't even notice the star when I first glanced at the photo, but then after I took a closer look, there it was. LOVE it.

I try to keep my sparkliest pieces out so I remember to wear them for more than special occasions. I see nothing wrong with donning a little bit of sparkle for a trip to the grocery store or a playdate at the park. ;)
