i'm still feeling a wee bit homeless.
our biggest and final shipment is supposed to arrive soon. over seven thousand pounds of things we desperately need. added to the over six thousand pounds of things we desperately missed during our years away. added to the eight hundred pounds of things that are seriously our barest essentials.
to rescue us when we are desperate. or bare. don't judge.
today, that eight hundred pounds of bare essentials saved me. because i looked at esmé's room and smiled...
esmé was our overseas surprise. our turkish delight of sorts. and everything in her little room was acquired while we were away. which means our eight hundred pounds of bare essentials include a bit of mrs. french and jennifer ramos...
a bit of a salinger sculpture by two hidden heads.
and a well-traveled birdie for my well-traveled birdie from cotton bird designs.
these are our bare essentials? eek. makes me feel a wee bit ashamed.
{read the following in a hushper, please.}
ashamed...but very. very. undesperate. and unhomeless. not to mention unsad. and unchubby.
{what can i say? inspired art makes me feel thinner. and you know i normally believe- as the saying goes - that the best things in life aren't things. just not today. thank you for understanding. as you were. and xoxo.}

Love it...especially the black frames with white matting.
I've been wanting that Love print for awhile now. Trying to resist. It's just so lovely.
I hope your things make it to you soon!! I can't imagine moving overseas.
I adore you! And I love your "things" What wonderful choices.....esme is one lucky little gal. Mrs. French, Jennifer, the gorgeous sculpture and the wonderful little bird. I believe that saying as well but, some days? some moments? It is about those "things" and should be....:) They save me too, sometimes!

I need you to come in and just redo my house. Except then I would have to have you in my house and I might die of embarrassment if you saw it in its current state.
Love the Two Hidden Heads piece!
What wonderful "collections" the years have brought to you.
photos are adorable. esme...I love her name I say it a lot to myself don't cha know?
we need our stuff. stuff makes our home a home. I would have 7,000lbs of stuff if you weighed it don't feel bad.
and I REALLY REALLY WISH that inspired art made me feel thinner because the jeans I tried on this weekend? all they did was make me feel like a chubby, lumpy mess.
I'm totally down with your "the best things in life aren't things" philosophy, but am also convinced that everyone has and needs a couple of bare essential "things" that make them smile--and one shouldn't feel ashamed for that. I love your sweet esmé's room. xo
I'm a big fan of things, too. And, I think I must have a cut book of my own.
i need you here to help me decorate. honestly. you thought my apt was in a rough state before? there is wood EVERYWHERE in here. and not sleek or airy or statement wood designs. more like i just drove up to pennsylvania.
wow! it looks great. thank you for sending me the link. hope you're well. x
