Ha ha! They will be begging for a turtle all the live long day now, won't they? Hee hee...so cute!

smiled, giggled, and heartsang.
need to hear more about the salmonella? ugh. what a pretty name for such an ugly infection. if i didn't know better i'd think salmonella was a beautiful, new, disney princess with coral colored hair, and blushed cheeks. a fair maiden living in a palette of pink.
NOT a genus of rod-shaped, Gram-negative, non-spore forming bacterial contagion.
xo,

salmonella? eek!
but oh man! this is ADORABLE!!!!
Can I tell you a little story, which I promise will lead somewhere mostly comprehensible? I’ve had turtles since I can remember (4-5?) and believe I contracted salmonella but once, and really if you wash your hands after handling them and keep their enclosure clean you’ll be a-ok. One thing I only learned after I got older and more responsible was that they are much more maintenance than you think and care, enclosure (or not which is preferred for some species), diet, temperature + humidity, healthcare, and so on varies for each species. So if you do decide to get one (I love them as pets, but I’m not a cuddly pet person-ha and I was bent on being an entomologist by the time I hit five!) do lots and lots of research. I currently own a female three-toed box turtle (shhh don’t tell anyone I’m as old as I am and I have one!) and would love a tortoise if we had a yard and more room. They are amazing animals and I’ll never cease to be fascinated by how long they’ve managed to survive on Earth-little dinos!
pour porter...we pet sat two tortoises a few years ago. the owners had to name guardians in their will because their pets would surely outlive them!
they were amazing, i agree.
we are cuddly, but i'm afraid we've proven ourselves to not be a pet family. so i tend to use any excuse i can...i'm allergic to cats, what if our next faraway home isn't dog friendly, bird poop, and salmonella.
i am desperate.
in other news...WHEN WILL YOUR SHOP OPEN?! i'm psyched. xoxo.
What a wonderful blog you have! I love all the photos here. Btw, this one did make me smile :)
Had a turtle once--don't remember. Apparently, aunt gave it to us. Mom took it away before we were very aware of it. Fear of salmonella.
Mean mom.
so cute. definitely smiled. hope the salmonella exits, pronto.
Ahh, reminds me of our little tortoise Ben, who know resides with a friend. Never got sick from him either, but they definitely are not low maintenance pets.
So not the fun I like to visit you for. Heres hoping your toxic turtles gift goes through you quickly. This is why Grant. never received the one he desperately wanted.
oh goodness, i don't think i can show b this one. i am still trying to get him to move past a pet puma...xo t
Karey,
Man, I always seem to come across like a naggy mom when I comment! Oh that must have been awesome to have pet sit them. I love their weird little personalities! And yes, totally understand your resistance to bringing in the pets. :)
We are SO CLOSE! We just finished our backend testing of the payment system and pictures are all up and it looks good, etc, etc; however, I'm still waiting on two designers shipments that will be coming in beginning of next week and the week after, but we may launch prior to that. I'm just not sure if I should wait for the rest of the shipments or just take the plunge. We have a small selection (designers and sizes) to start out with, which I hope everyone is ok with! Fall is going to be great. Thanks so much for your interest, makes me blush!
TAKE THE PLUNGE! i mean it...everyone's waiting. when people saw your site at alt, they swooned! we will wait until fall if we must, but we wish sooner. truly.
and it cracks me up that someone so cutting edge is naggy! you sweet thing, you. love it.
